QUESTION TIME

What Keeps You Up At 2 am?

A wise and arthritic old master once said - “The journey of 1000 rolls starts with a single tap”, or something like that.

Basically, the gist is that mastery of anything is about starting and not stopping - but the starting is the toughest bit.

In the BJJ world, it’s often claimed that getting off the couch and ‘getting promoted to white belt’ is the hardest part. And this might be true for many people.

However, based on the severity of the ‘Blue Flu’, and how many people fall away here - it’s easy to argue that blue belt might be the toughest one to stick with.

Furthermore, given that only a fraction of people get to black belt - it shows there’s some other steep drop-off points at Purple & Brown along the way … 🤔

So, whether you’re a white belt looking down the long road ahead - or a black belt looking back with experience - we want to know what you think the toughest BJJ belt to get through is?

Over to you … 👇

This week’s big question

What's the hardest BJJ belt to get through?

🟩🟩🟩🟩🟩🟩 😷 Power through, nose closed, and move on

🟨🟨🟨⬜️⬜️⬜️ 🗣️ Politely mention it, as nicely as you can

🟨⬜️⬜️⬜️⬜️⬜️ 🚨 Immediate DQ on the spot

It seems etiquette and camaraderie win out here, as most of you would opt to hold your tongue on it or at least take the polite approach 🙏

We’ve got a good few tips from the crowd on how to deal with it and approach it too👇

BY BULLETPROOF FOR BJJ

The Weekly Fix

Last timethe Bulletproof lads got into a friendly disagreement about whether or not Gi jiu-jitsu is on the verge of a spectacular comeback. 🔥

This week, they run through how quickly the sport is evolving and as a result, how fast the standards are changing! 😎

How To Keep Up With BJJ’s Rapid Advancement…

BJJ is evolving so fast, you’d think it was on PEDs too.

In just over 10 minutes, Joey & JT take us through the challenges of balancing life on and off the mats, and the trials of advancing in the sport. They discuss how to adapt to the modern game, manage training alongside life's commitments, and the challenges faced when striving for that next belt.

It's not all talk; they offer actionable advice on integrating strength and mobility work to keep your rolling smooth and ligaments largely intact.

So, if you're looking to stay ahead in the ever-changing world of BJJ, this one's a must-watch.

FREAK FOR THE TECHNIQUE

Gettin’ Drilly With It

I know ‘drilling’ is a dirty word for some people nowadays, and call me old-fashioned, but ain’t no way I’m ever gonna ecologically know how to transition from outside ashi to x-guard and back again without hittin’ a few reps.

Which is what I plan to do by using this Eddie Cummings-inspired leglock flow.
