Get him Jocko…
1.) GIRLS SHOULDN’T DO JIU-JITSU 🙅♀️: … according to one out-of-touch old dummy who clearly doesn’t know what he’s talking about.
Pastor Dale Partridge jumped on X recently to let everyone know his thoughts on young girls participating in BJJ and wrestling, stating: ‘Parents, stop putting your daughters into Jiu-Jitsu and wrestling. You’re letting 14-year-old boys grope, mount, and dominate your little girl.’
As expected, he drew a lot of criticism from parents and girls in our sport who have experienced the opposite, including Jocko Willink who replied with: ‘Parents, put your daughters into jiu-jitsu and wrestling. That way, they will be able to defend themselves against boys trying to grope, mount, and dominate them.’
Off ya pop, Pastor Dale 👋 … → more here.
2.) GIRLS SHOULD DO JIU-JITSU 👧: … because, like the men - they gain confidence, have fun, learn to defend themselves and give us epic fight cards like the upcoming UFC Fight Pass Invitational 10!
With the highly anticipated Adele Fornarino vs Ffion Davies match headlining the UFC FPI 10, it was already a must-watch. But just this week, it was announced that they’d also be adding Talita Alencar vs Cassia Moura, Helena Crevar vs Maggie Grindatti and the trilogy match between Elisabeth Clay and Brianna Ste-Marie!
I wonder if Pastor Dale will tune in? 🤔 … → more here.
3.) THE MAGIC OF MARCELO GARCIA STRIKES AGAIN 🔥: … as he submits fellow grappling legend and icon of the sport, Masakazu Imanari, at One 170.
After 14 years away from competition and a bout with stomach cancer, the man many consider the GOAT showed a crisp and controlled display of jiu-jitsu as he worked his way to his infamous North-South choke to close out the match.
And after 14 years out, Marcelo is not here to waste any time, making his next call out straight after the match finished 😎 … → more here.

QUESTION TIME
What Keeps You Up At 2 am?
As a BJJ person, it wasn’t long ago that being ecological meant that you were probably just a hippie who loves jiu-jitsu and spends their weekends on nature walks🌲.
Nowadays, it means you’re part of a growing movement that claims to challenge how jiu-jitsu is being taught and learned…

You’ve probably seen on your internet travels that not everyone thinks ecological BJJ is special, with many claiming it’s just a cool new label for ‘specific position training’ that’s been a staple in all gyms since Day 1.
The battle is raging online, with New Wave’s Large Daniel Big Dan and Ecological’s main man, Greg Souders, recently duking it out in a red-hot mass e-debate.
It wasn’t pretty. Everyone watching it lost, in our opinion. I'm not sure why they aren’t settling it mono e mono on the mats, or even team quintet style, but hey, here we are.
Anyway - who cares what they think? We want to know what you think! Are you into training ‘ecologically’? Or do you learn best from drills, reps and structure?
Over to you … 👇
This week’s big question
Ecological Or Logical? What's Your Approach? |
The last poll’s results:
Last time, we asked you - “What Do You Want To See From TNS For 2025?”
🟩🟩🟩🟩🟩🟩 🚫 - Don't you change a damn thing!
🟨🟨⬜️⬜️⬜️⬜️ 😎 - I reckon you guys should ...
We had a nice little ego boost with most of you letting us know that you love what we’re doing - and we also got some excellent constructive criticism from a few of you who’d like us to mix things up a bit.
And mix things up, we shall! There were requests for shorter sections, new sections and formatting changes, some of which you may notice we are kicking off in this very newsletter!
Seriously though, we really appreciate the input from all angles and are always looking to make the best read we can - so we will keep tweakin’! 🔥

WHAT’S SO FUNNY?

The Meme Open Mat:
4 wild animals, only one can win👇…

Bottom left all day long …

You know who you are…

Why are these things the same? …
LET’S GET TECHNICAL
The Good Option:
The Cradle.
It's great to be in one if you’re a baby, but it's terrible to be in one if you’re on the mats.
Most of the time, it’s used as a stalling position, so if you can bear the uncomfortable and unrelenting crush of having your knee join your nose, you can just wait it out until your opponent tries to transition.
But sometimes, if they're crafty buggers like Knight Jiu-Jitsu, they’ll use the cradle to move straight to a brutal sub - like this epic kneebar finish. Grab a cuppa ☕️ and notepad 📝 👇
The Not-So-Good Option:
Sometimes, the not-so-good option depends on who you ask.
For the guy on top, who thought he was winning? Not so good. For Craig on the bottom, who always knew he was winning? A great option.
And for us, who get to watch this wizardry and hit it next time we train? A brilliant option. 👇
YOU WIN, WE WIN!
